Lakelands Fishery, Roosky - 13 December 2009
Match report The thermometer was touching -3C when the members arrived at Lakelands for the Christmas Fur & Feather match and all the lakes were frozen over. Breaking the ice was the most action seen in many of the swims on a bitterly cold but sunny day in Roosky. With so much at stake for the Golden Peg winnings of €322, most of the attention was focused on Eoin, Alan, Richie, Heno, Sean and Dave to see who would make the most of the pegs they had drawn. Richie started off very well and had a few small tench in the net inside 40 minutes, but once Alan got into his stride he was swinging small tench, roach, perch and hybrids in. Eoin and Heno each had a few good fish to show, but having netted 3 tench in the final 15 minutes, it was Alan who took the Golden Peg cash and the match honours with a winning bag of 8.180 kg - total winnings of €387 for the day. Elsewhere the conditions stumped some of Ireland's international stars with Rory Dunne, Dave Hill and Damian Maddock all dry-netting, although Nicky Harrison took his section with a solid 4.220 kg bag.
